About the Journal

The Journal of Sustainable Transitions (JST) is an interdisciplinary journal committed to exploring the role of creativity in advancing sustainable development. It serves as a platform for research, dialogue, and innovation at the intersection of sustainability science, engineering, materials, built environment, the creative arts and design that supports the transition towards a greener future.

The journal aims to publish articles that support systemic transitions toward a more equitable, resilient, and ecologically sound society. This aligns closely with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:

  • SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities – by promoting sustainable design and urban innovation.
  • SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production – through research on circular economy practices in creative industries.
  • SDG 13: Climate Action – by showcasing creative responses to climate challenges.
  • SDG 4: Quality Education – by fostering sustainability education through creative pedagogy.
  • SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals – by encouraging interdisciplinary and cross-sector collaboration.

The journal welcomes contributions that integrate theory and practice, challenge dominant paradigms, and propose new models of living and making. Topics include eco-design, regenerative architecture, environmental storytelling, community-led sustainability initiatives, and the cultural dimensions of ecological transitions.

By bridging academic research with real-world impact, the Journal of Sustainable Transitions seeks to empower creative communities to lead in shaping a sustainable future. It values diverse methodologies, global perspectives, and inclusive approaches that reflect the complexity of sustainability challenges.

Ultimately, the journal aims to be a catalyst for change, fostering creative solutions that make meaningful contributions to achieving the SDGs.
